Now we love Yorkshire, and we especially love supporting great projects that are happening here. So when we were approached to document ‘Roots To Inspire’, a musical project with Huddersfield at its heart, we jumped at the chance. Huddersfield University, in collaboration with a number of organisations across Huddersfield brought together 5 esteemed musicians that each worked with a different community group to create new music that crossed genre, culture and a range of instruments, but that all root in Huddersfield.
This was a wonderfully colourful project which saw us film a gospel choir, a brass band, a world record holding beatboxer, a harp, a sousaphone, refugees who’d never picked up an instrument before, and so much more. Each project had its own uniqueness, but the film was the only place where each 5 elements would be brought together. It had a big role to play but the response from audiences at the end said it all.
